Job Description:

  • An exciting role has opened up to join a pivotal team within Barclaycard. The Global Payment Networks (GPN) team sits within COO, Cards and Payments area and works alongside key units across Barclays, and is responsible for managing the interactions with the global Payment Networks, such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners, JCB and China Union Pay.
  • The Change, Control & Compliance team within GPN ensures the integrity of the business in relation to Payment Networks Contractual Agreements, Operating Regulations and Regulatory matters when relevant. Working closely with respective Business Units to consciously manage their risks associated with Scheme Change and Compliance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Barclaycard leadership with regards to topics relating to Payment Networks, supporting the creation of papers, regular business updates on Payment Network developments, and sharing opportunities identified as a result of Network developments
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) regarding Card Schemes Operating Regulations, processing platforms, downstream services/products and potential client impacts to processes and business operations
  • Interpret and communicate complex payment network change requirements in a way that allows all business units to understand the change
  • Protect and enhance Barclays’ position in the card industry over both the short and long term
  • Support the wider GPN team on bespoke, strategic scheme-related projects (i.e. EU Expansion) as required
  • Coordinating across the Barclays group any Payment Network changes, helping to ensure bank-wide compliance to changing network rules
  • Maintain strong relationships with key Payment Network leads and key business stakeholders – utilise these relationships to speed up delivery or lobby for change at an Industry level

Job Requirements:

  • Understanding of the payment networks related drivers of income and costs
  • Strong understanding of Card/Payment Schemes
  • Knowledge of project management principles
  • Problem solving and competitor awareness at industry level
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Senior stakeholder management experience
  • Capability to prepare executive briefings to effectively communicate complex information
  • Capable of representing Barclays on internal and external working groups
