Job Description:

Employees in this position will work closely with other members of the Structured Finance team to support project financing activities for Duke’s growing commercial renewable energy portfolio. The right candidate will be organized, proficient in excel investment models, able to manage multiple priorities, a good communicator, logical, detail-oriented, collaborative and confident. This position will report to the Director of Structured Finance at Duke Energy Renewables.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the financial modeling of various project finance structures including tax equity, construction debt, term debt and cash equity financings
  • Manage the process of funding individual projects’ into equity partnerships and debt funds. This includes preparation, coordination and completion of a financial model, an appraisal, an independent engeineer report, an insuance report, third party consents, legal, transmission etc. and maintain a data room to support the transaction
  • Represent the Structured Finance team at project team meetings to communicate financing requirements and ensure projects are planned within the requirement of external financiers and internal underwriting standards
  • Review and confirm that project’s are modeled accurately, economic results are accurate prior to senior management decision making and approval
  • Run scenario’s to ensure decision-making being informed by quantitative financial analysis
  • Coordinate hand-off and training on terms and conditions of finance agreements to asset management and debt compliance teams
  • Assist the asset management and debt compliance teams with on-going compliance of the financing agreements and coordination of communications with lenders

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to understand financial concepts, models and the potential impact of operations on investments and financial results
  • Ability to define issues, analyze problems, evaluate alternatives and develop sound conclusions
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing with superiors, peers, partners and other stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment with changing priorities and hard deadlines

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience with asset backed structured financing
  • Experience with renewable energy development and finance
  • Experience negotiating and closing tax equity agreements
  • Experience with project management
  • Problem solving, project management and process improvement implementation experience
  • Experience creating and running decision analysis and financial models
